         Sophisticated Cocktail Stunners- Working with Buckram and Fabrics
  Dazzle the crowds with your own incredible masterpiece. If you would like to make a Top hat that is covered in satin or simply a mother-of-the-bride pill box , this course will very interesting to you !!
You will use your own fabric to make an amazing hat and learn about the versatility of BUCKRAM.
If you are interested in Millinery as a profession or simply want to completely immerse yourself in the world of hats, then this intense Workshop is for you!
This is the perfect course if you have always wanted to make your own couture hat for that special occasion techniques of using material
During this two day workshop,
and learn new You will acquire the skills to block your own shape, using Buckram as your base material.
Cover it with fabric of your choice, and
Finish  and line it to a high level.
Choose from a variety of covering techniques including the tailored pleated finish or
experiment using distressed fabrics

A Spring Millinery Marathon - pushing your millinery skills to a higher level…
Irelands only serious Hat making Retreat,

If you are interested in Millinery as a profession or simply want to completely immerse yourself in the world of hats, then this intense 3/5 Day Workshop is for you!
Your rollercoaster ride into the Millinery world will take off with making a Sinamay head piece or fascinator, then you get more technical and expand your knowledge by designing and making a straw hat that would be suitable for any fancy wedding or race meeting. The final piece of your course will be an elaborate cocktail hat.

Topics covered;
On day one under my expert guidance, you will learn how to;
-          recognize which style of hat would suit different people
-          design your own creation, and learn to shape and
manipulate Sinamay
-          to achieve a beautiful headpiece that can be embellished
with colourful feathers and beads.                                                
On day two you will, using a special milliner’s straw- Parisisal
And Sinamay
-          design a basic shape of a hat
-          shape straw/sinamay by blocking over one of my many rare and
amazing wooden blocks
-          Using traditional Millinery methods taught for generations.
-          Stiffen and wire the different parts of the hat
On day three
-          Your hat will come together and you will trim and finish it.
Day   Four and Five Cocktail Hats
-          The next two days   will be spent venturing through the various steps of designing
-          And constructing a Cocktail hat using Buckram as the base fabric
-          You will learn to block the desired shape, wire and cover it with your own fabric
-          Trim it with flowers, beads or whatever takes your fancy!

                       An Introduction to Millinery
Feathered Creations and Sinamay Headpieces
Take a day out of your hectic program and put those Idle fingers to some use. Get creative and learn to make a beautiful Headpiece, be it with feathers, straw, veiling ,Flowers or beads.
Have fun creating your very own hat, bonnet or chapeau and learn about the classic art of Millinery design / Technique with renowned Westport based Milliner Lina Stein
She will demonstrate some basic techniques of making trimmings using SINAMAY and then
you can let your imagination run wild
·Focus will be on creating a sinamay base by following traditional Millinery techniques, then you will learn how to make various design features such as swirls, curls, fans and more using Sinamay and finally you will embellish your hat with Crinoline, beads, feathers, or just keeping things simple!
All pieces are finished with elastic, band or comb then lined to a professional standard

Working With Sinamay and Straw
This is the perfect course if you have always wanted to make your own couture hat for that special occasion. Using Parisisal straw and sinamay you will be guided through the process of making a brimmed hat, from blocking through to trimming. And when people as you, “Where did you get that hat?” You can answer that you made it yourself! This course includes enough sinamay and straw to make one hat with brim plus wire and petersham. Trimming is included
Using Lina’s varied collection of old and new Millinery Blocks including
ECLIPSE AND SAUCER  shapes that were seen at the recent Royal Wedding you are guaranteed to create a stunning hat to a professional finish.
During this 2 day course we will go through the basics of couture millinery
We will discover the different techniques necessary for creating a hat, and you will have the opportunity to create a trimming suitable for the occasion.                                                                            
On day one you will work with Millinery Straws;
-Learn about the composition and variety of Straws,
-Design a basic shape of a hat taking in all your personal measurements
-Shape the Straw over one of Lina’s many amazing wooden blocks.
-Stiffen and wire the different parts of the hat and let it settle until you take it to the next level.
On day two
-After a good nights rest, your hat will come together and you’ll trim and finish it .

Using Modelling Clay, your hands and a Basic wooden hat block, you will learn how to put an idea into 3-D and create a new block that you will be able to use at home yourself.
The block can be used as a module itself or combined with your regular dome block to further make hats!

Day two; You will finish stabilise the dry cast and harden with varnish

Ideal for those of you already skilled in making headpieces using Sinamay , this workshop will guide you through the process of blocking a simple yet very fashionable “ BUTTON HAT” or as I call them “ BI-BI’S”
Material used will be either Sinamay or Parisisal.
You can then proceed to trim your little darling using your already present skills or let Lina show you a few more tricks to add your basket of Millinery know-how.

If none of the course dates are suitable or you have particular wishes

There will be a minimum of two participants in each class advertised,
I am however available for special one-to-one master classes at a negotiated rate
The dates given in the program are flexible and can be changed with reasonable notice to course participants by Lina stein.

·Most materials are supplied by myself other than a few essentials ,such as thimbles scissors, needles
·Depending on numbers, the workshops will be held in my studio (Rosmoney) or alternatively in another venue. 
·All courses include materials , which can also be purchased separately afterwards  should you want to continue with your work
·Lunch and light refreshments will also be provided ,
·Courses run from 10am to 5 pm
·A 50 % deposit is required with bookings.
Deposits are non-refundable but your booking can be transferred with 7 days notice.
· If you cancel the course without giving sufficient notice (7 days), the full cost of the course will still be payable and your place is non-transferable.
